I’ve only got one brother but he’s still the best. Enjoy the day Jeff.

I was looking for sweet airplanes for a poster project and came across this little trove of science and mechanics magazine covers. Most of them have nice high res scans to oggle, and supporting articles with cool diagrams, photos and whatnot.
I am partial to the flying wing cover.

And as long as we’re on the topic of aviation, the Lockheed Constellation was the most beautiful commercial aircraft ever conceived. Discuss.

a few items on the short list: illustration, jane austen novels, the beatles...
so it should come as no surprise that these illustrations by paula j. becker make me smile. the elephants above are part of paula’s vision of pride and prejudice. yep, that’s mr. darcy asking darling lizzy bennet to dance. priceless!
between the elephants and this beatles illustration, paula has earned a place in my heart forever.

via jane austen’s world, a fantastic blog filled with fascinating information on regency england.

because he is a seriously fantastic illustrator (who i have had the great pleasure to work with lately). and because his sense of humor is so fantastic. check out his design sponge reject project, which is hilarious. like john says, he loves him some design sponge (who doesn’t?), but there must be others out there who have been rejected… too funny.
john is also represented by the fantastic lilla rogers, so check out his work there.

Maybe those little white mice I occasionally see in the clutches of a magnificent hawk are just getting a ride.

I love that just chronicle books republished 100 girls on cheap paper (i believe it was originally self-published or part of one of her art exhibits, sadly memory fails) which contains a hundred awesome illustrations from one of my favorite artists, Tina Berning.
If you took the best of vintage Highlights magazine, Blue Note Records and classic French children’s books, I think you’d end up with something like Pascal Blanchet’s portfolio. Not a shocker that her work has used by the New Yorker and Penguin Books. Beautifully done website, too. I fffffffffounded the hell out of it.
