the hidden seed

okay, it’s no secret that i adore fashion blogs but i haven’t yet told you how much i adore the hidden seed. the author, elsita, not only photographs her outfits but also mentions her inspiration and credits the individual pieces, which i think is absolutely brilliant.

and my goodness, does she have a sense of style. it’s definitely feminine, bold and a bit dramatic. not to mention a love for yellow, as you can see here:

fall flowered cardis

first, i should probably note that fall is my absolute favorite season. to me, there is nothing better than warm days and crisp, cool nights. and fall fashion?! don’t even get me started. sweaters and tights and boots, oh my! i get giddy just thinking about them!

so i’ve begun to peek around at all the lovely fall offerings out there and have found that i am all about basic cardigans with flowery flourishes, like the lovely, lovely kate spade version above and this version with crocheted flowers from boden.

of course, my crafty mind immediately tries to figure out a way to rig one up for myself on the cheap. so i’m thinking that between this budget cardi from old navy, a very careful look at that gorgeous kate spade one, a bunch of felt, some new buttons and a lot of time, i could be on to something… and i’m thinking i can totally crochet some flowers too, so both of these sweet cardis are totally within my cheap grasp!

oh, and if you haven’t seen the adorable fall looks on the kate spade site, they are totally worth checking out. adorable, happy autumn style!

adorable alliteration: a alicia accessories

whew. that’s a whole lot of a’s. but london-based a alicia’s accessories are certainly adorable: felt flowers that nicely straddle the vintage / modern line. i think these would be perfect for adding a little something special to a bedroom pillow or a plain sweater. a alicia also has a shop dedicated to pretty things especially for weddings here. and if you happen to be in london, her work is on sale at the london fashion and textile museum shop.

(it should most certainly be noted that i found the a alicia shop via my oh hello friend lovely package exchange partner, amanda, who keeps a wonderful blog and a great vintage shop too.)

the future of fashion

seriously.

meet 8 year old arlo weiner, son of mad men creator matt weiner. i’d say that a strong sense of style runs deep in that family, since arlo has been mixing up his wardrobe to suit his style since he was three, when he asked his parents for a top hat.

check out the slideshow of arlo’s favorite looks and be sure to read his inspirations. this kid is amazing. i am sure we’ll see his name all over the fashion rags in ten or twelve years.

seriously.

Shoe love

I went to Target for nothing relating to shoes today but I had to take a peek as I wandered by and well, I have to say I was instantly smitten with some of their new fall shoes, here are my favorites (two of which might have made the trip home with me)

Ozella flats
(in teal here but also come in black and a pretty brown)

Suzette button flats
(my fave, the’re kind of antro looking with that ruffle – also in black)

Ondria flats
(super comfy flannel – also in sweet red & black plaid)

Shaelyn Twist Toe Wedge
(cute little wedge – also in black)

it's vintage, dah-ling

have you heard of 1st dibs? if you appreciate vintage style at all, hit this link right now. seriously. right now.

1st dibs catalogs gorgeous vintage furniture, accessories, jewelry, haute couture and fashion items that are for sale. and while items are waaaaay out of my price range (i’m more of a style on the cheap sort of girl), it all makes for some serious eye candy, like the 1968 yves saint laurent safari mini dress above.

thanks to simple + pretty for bringing this treasure trove to my attention.

The September Issue

They’ve made a documentary about Anna Wintour of Vogue called The September Issue. It comes out August 28th, 2009 and will definitely be interesting.
