The Spring Equinox is almost upon us and temperatures today are almost halfway to being tolerable. I’m happy to see the ice on the windows of the bsol studio start to recede.
The photographs in this series by French photographer Denis Darzacq are arresting enough on their own—untouched images of Parisian hip hop and contemporary dancers frozen mid-jump, mid-spin, and mid-flip in postures that often convey a sense of indifference towards the approaching earth.

And then you find out how the series came about: From French Culture: “It was a carefully crafted response of Darzacq and a group of young French people to the alienation of youths on suburban housing estates after the riots that shook France in 2005 … A depiction of an entire generation in France in free fall, ignored by society, their energy untapped and unused.”

See the entire series and a video of a photoshoot.
lucky find: arsenal wallpapers

i know it’s totally obvious that rbb loves bikes. but it is also worth noting that at least half of us (me, bill and zara) also love soccer. a lot.
so i have to mention that arsenal fc posts some excellent wallpapers in their fanzone at the beginning of the season and after every victory. there are some fantastic action shots and just some gorgeous photography, like the one above.

In addition to the birds that live in the Yolo Wildlife Area near Davis, California millions more of every variety drop by to visit as they migrate South. The local red tail and rough leg hawks are currently hosting a huge flock of swans which is pretty cool. The photo of today is of a great horned owl captured using a revolutionary new technique that involves holding my iPhone up to the binoculars being held by my other hand and then pressing the button using mental telepathy. Not ideal but as Chase Jarvis says “The best camera is the one you have with you.” A few more photos on flickr.
Snow has fallen but the surf's still up

If your tastes run at all toward surf photography the storm that dumped snow on the Midwest dumped huge waves on Hawaii. Check out the collections shot at Peahi and Waimea over at Surfline.

Can you tell the folks at RedBlackBrown have been swamped lately? We’ve got some great projects were about ready share with you so we hope the lull in posts proves to be worth the wait. In the mean time here is the photo of the day.
That’s not to say we’re planning on inundating you with a new photo every day (though you never know). My advice is to stop fretting about it and live in the now. So, here’s the photo of the (to)day. It is of Devin who is currently the youngest RBB occasional intern and inspiration source (he’s too young to work legally). Anyway, clearly he isn’t working – he’s enjoying a breathtaking sunset off South Beach on the Pt. Reyes National Seashore north of San Francisco, CA.
Speaking of enjoyment we all hope you enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
