canvas by lands' end

i know that i’m hardly the first person to blog about canvas by lands’ end, but after a month of looking and thinking, last week i finally caved and ordered a few basics. and how could i not? i mean, really. there’s a sort of classic jcrew vibe but at a MUCH nicer price point. plus, a freckly redhead model? let’s face it, that’s about all they had to do to win my love.

and so my two tops arrived (i chose this one in navy and this one in green, both colors that are no longer listed on the site so my timing must have been good) and i can officially say they are fantastic. and not at all frumpy (which i admit was my fear since that’s sort of lands’ end’s realm). quality cotton, nice seams, and terribly cute. if you’re thinking about ordering, be sure to check their size charts, as things run large and you can expect to go down a size (or two). and so now, i’ll spend some time considering this dress. in yellow, of course. yum.

foret

i am in love with these beautiful vintage-inspired shirts from foret. oh, the colors! the textures! the simple, beautiful photography! can’t you just image a whole summer in such breezy, beautiful tops? sigh.

more green kicks

somehow (likely thanks to all the earth day messaging out there) i found my way to the simple shoes site yesterday. for those of you who aren’t familiar with the company, they are highly committed to creating sustainable, responsible footwear in their manufacturing processes and their material selections.

which i think is fantastic. the only problem was that for a while, the shoes were a little dull. but what a happy surprise when i browsed their women’s selction! happy, adorable flats like tiptoe (made with help and certified organic cotton, of course) and stylish glads like tantan (made with eco-certified leather) and a whole host of other cute products, especially the combover bag, which i love for it’s cold war military sense. (swoon. seriously.)

i happily admit, guys, that i didn’t spend as much time checking out the men’s selection (i was clearly too busy with the cuteness going on in the women’s), but it looks like a respectable collection of sneaks that would definitely look good pedaling a bike…

and i might add that everything is very reasonably priced, which also makes me happy. i love that sustainable, responsible choices keep getting cuter and more accessible!

please, please let that be spring in the air

with the beginning of march and local weather forecasters projecting temps in the 40s, we minnesotans are beginning to believe that spring could actually happen. and with the impending launch of target’s liberty of london collection, i think i am a believer. because, really, don’t these fantastic prints just ooze relaxed spring style?

i know the blogosphere has been buzzing with images of target’s liberty home collection (see this post from decor8 if you managed to miss them) but not too much has been seen of the clothing collection, which i cannot wait to get my hands on. because i do love an adorable print dress… i sense a big bill at target on march 14. (sigh.)

i found the images above (and more) in this post from demi couture.

happiness = type + jewelry

it’s a pretty simple equation, isn’t it? colleen sent me a link to plastique’s etsy shop, which is filled with these fabulous creations. colleen says that she’s digging the helvetica nexklance. personally, i am a sucker for the apple-z necklace above, since i would very much like that option in real life.

a trial of sorts

i know, i know. another fashion post from me. how tiring! but since a lot of people seem to be curious about my style on the cheap tendencies, i can’t help but pass this one along.

at any rate, i have long admired the look of frye harness and campus boots but have always wondered if i would actually wear them enough to justify the steep price tag. i could never decide if they were just too much for me or if i would love them to bits…

well, on a recent trip to target i found these boots and for a mere fraction of the cost, i can finally figure it out. i’ll keep you posted on what i learn. to be sure, the materials aren’t as nice, but they’re comfortable, cute and have already garnered several compliments this morning, so we’ll see.
