The latest Pottery Barn catalog sports a see-through coffee table so you can showcase the sea shells and first edition Hemingways you’ve got laying around. We, however, can’t do see-through because our coffee table is filled with remotes and dog brushes.
Enough about pottery barn.

We found the IKEA LIATORP, perfect for stashing unsightlies, except for the glass top that makes them completely…well
sightly.
No problem, we had a vintage power company leaning in our back entryway.
And that baby fit perfectly suspended under the glass, resting on some sturdy screws. Thanks for the wham bam, Mam.

i hope you all had a happy christmas / hanukkah / solstice / day!
we were pretty much snowed in, which means we hung out and enjoyed our pets, some movies and the holiday decor that we actually managed to hang this year.
but we don’t have stockings, mostly because i haven’t seen any that i really like yet (and don’t actually want to knit any). until i saw the adorable stockings that brooke from inchmark made. adorable and the tutorial is so easy to follow. so maybe next year? only if i start them right now, i suppose.

okay, it’s official. over the last few months, i’ve become a knitter. and since i love vintage style, i was especially excited to find that the victoria & albert museum has some amazing vintage knitting patterns from the 1940s available to download as pdfs or word docs. i am especially taken with the convertible mittens. check out all the patterns here. i think a lot of them have sort of an anthropologie -esque quality, especially if knit in a luxury yarn…
oh, and these little knit plushies too. i love the lion!

old world meets new technology

rossi, makers of lovely traditional stationary (located in lovely borgo san lorenzo just outside of florence, italy) has welcomed the diy set with the release of their medioevalis line, papers with a traditional deckle edge perforation so they can be run through an ink jet printer. brilliant. now make something beautiful!

first, i should probably note that fall is my absolute favorite season. to me, there is nothing better than warm days and crisp, cool nights. and fall fashion?! don’t even get me started. sweaters and tights and boots, oh my! i get giddy just thinking about them!
so i’ve begun to peek around at all the lovely fall offerings out there and have found that i am all about basic cardigans with flowery flourishes, like the lovely, lovely kate spade version above and this version with crocheted flowers from boden.
of course, my crafty mind immediately tries to figure out a way to rig one up for myself on the cheap. so i’m thinking that between this budget cardi from old navy, a very careful look at that gorgeous kate spade one, a bunch of felt, some new buttons and a lot of time, i could be on to something… and i’m thinking i can totally crochet some flowers too, so both of these sweet cardis are totally within my cheap grasp!

oh, and if you haven’t seen the adorable fall looks on the kate spade site, they are totally worth checking out. adorable, happy autumn style!

wow. this is super cool for you needle-pointers out there… the purl bee shop, purl soho, has just released a collection of charley harper needlepoint kits. they are ridiculously expensive, but awfully beautiful.
(thanks to the lovely jenny over at wikstenmade for bringing these to my attention. image from the purl bee)
