on my ridiculously long list of home to-do projects, one that i have avoided committing to is painting our front hall and stairwell (even though it is sorely in need of a fresh coat!), mostly because i haven’t been able to settle on a paint color. orange has been in the back of my mind for a while now (especially with the little splashes of orange we have in the living room), but finding the right orange seemed like a long shot.
enter good bones, great pieces, one of my favorite blogs. the post on the best oranges made my day. and while the photo above isn’t my style, i think it has helped me finally decide to give orange a go. but probably not for a while. there are some other items on the list to check off first!
check out all their color theory posts here. a really great decorating resource.
100 colors, 100 writings, 100 days

this is a really simple but fantastic idea.

i came across this photo last week in a post on the wonderful simple+pretty blog and fell in love with the wall color. and since bill and i are currently in the process of vastly improving our basement laundry room / studio space, i (finally) knew about where the wall color should be… i ended up going with a little more of a greenish-blue but i am so happy with it.
pics will be coming soon, i promise, but the cabinets and the sink need to be installed first.

Have you played with this yet? It’s pretty awesome. It pulls images from flickr based on the colors you pick (up to 10). I wasted way more time than I should have playing with it.

Here’s the perfect thing for a friday. What’s your color IQ? I didn’t do horrible, but I didn’t do great. 32.

Apparently T-Mobile is trying to copyright the color magenta. Although I don’t typically design in magenta, I’d like to have the option. Perhaps I will sign the petition and help save magenta for designers everywhere.

Joanna Goddard of A Cup of Jo wrote a great article for New York Magazine about New Yorkers who only wear one (or two) colors. I’m not familiar with all of the people but my favorite outlandish designer, Karim Rashid, was one of the interviewees. You can read it, here.
