the secret of kells

the secret of kells isn’t in wide release yet here in the us but i can’t wait to see it. seriously, look at these stills! soooooo beautiful! and i had a hard time narrowing it down to just those! wow.

it’s also the dark horse in this year’s oscar race, so i am hoping that will help it gain wider release. oh, and the ny times had a nice article about the director here.

the beatles rockband animation

okay, i have to begin with the fact that i am a beatles fan. it is the music i associate with my childhood, as my parents came of age in the 60s and played the beatles a lot when i was growing up. and while i’ve never played rock band in my life, the beatles version looks pretty incredible and could possibly tempt me (well, as long as i got to be george).

anyways, this opening animation is amazing. seriously beautiful.

(via random inspiration. also, i had to pull this from youtube, so please don’t mind the intro bit. for whatever reason i couldn’t embed the video from the main beatles rock band page, though it is totally worth a visit as there are more lovely animated videos to watch. seriously. so good.)

Sebastian Baptista's Ego

click here to view the video

I love this little video by Sebastian Baptista a Uruguayan motion designer living in in Spain. I can’t embed the video unfortunately but it’s worth clicking through to see it. It’s short and cute.

You can see more of his work on his website

White box

I’ve been seeing this all over today but it’s so nice I had to post it here too. Check out the rest of makoto yabuki’s videos too, they’re pretty cool.

Skate It Up Kids

Gosh, I remember being proud of how early and well my son learned to walk and run but these kids are really extraordinary. You can watch the 60 second Evian spot in French. I can’t quite figure out what language is used on the host site Rubidik.
