Beautiful Trash.

At the beginning of the school year, Rama Hughes asked his students to contribute to his Collection of Beautiful Trash. He promised to surprise them with something made out of it at the end of the year. As soon as the school year ended, Rama browsed through the scraps, selected the most interesting items, and created three handbound books which will be become part of the art room and allow future students to flip through them for inspiration and, as Rama says, “hopefully, learn a thing or two about the beauty of imperfection.”

I adore this idea and if I was a teacher or had kids one of these would definitely be around. In fact, I should really put one in my studio, I’m sure I have “beautiful trash” as well.

You can read more about these beautiful trash books and see some of the spreads on illustration friday.
