Classic Black & White

I promise you this site is not about to turn into babies and weddings (the guys won’t let it come to that) but I just wanted to post a wedding invite I did for my brother recently. It’s totally not my usual style, super traditional, but my future sister-in-law wanted something simple and traditional in classic black and white. She loves it, so that’s all that matters.

I was planning on letterpressing them but my press was acting up so I ended up screen printing them. There were a few bumps along the way but after a marathon screen printing weekend (mixed in with a lot of real work :P) and countless trips to Paper Source because apparently I don’t check things quite as closely as I should they were done.

I’m off to Chicago this weekend to hand them off and celebrate with my future sister-in-law at her bridal shower.

Have a good weekend!

(And I promise not to inundate with babies and weddings too much more but since there are at least a few of us who have weddings in their future I added a wedding category just in case you have a craving for wedding-related posts.)

  1. Looks awesome. How did you print the pattern on the inside of the enveloper?

  2. Thanks Pete! For the liners, I cheated :) I bought paper preprinted then cut it for the liners and glued it in. In theory if you are less of a cheater you could print the liner sheets then cut them into liners and glue them in. Paper Source has liner templates (although I just created my own in illustrator and printed it very faintly on the back of the liner sheets for easy cutting templates) It wasn’t too bad. The liner sheets don’t have to go down the whole way, just a bit furter than you would see through the flap. The key is to only glue the top bit down then fold the envelope with the liner in it to get the fold to look nice.
