the ny times posted this article about an increasingly popular trend: specialty typeface design. it’s a good little article about the general public’s increased awareness of type.

personally, i found the second to last paragraph of particular interest: phil renaud, a designer from phoenix studied the relationship between his grades and the typefaces he selected for his college papers.

the unscientific finding: papers set in georgia averaged better grades than those set in times. i’m just hoping he thanked matthew carter.
