the painting above, monet’s “le bassin aux nympheas,” has set a new record for a monet at christie’s in london. $80.4 million. wowsa. the ny times has a nice story and you can also check out the other items that were in the evening’s sale of impressionist and modern art.
personally, if i had that kind of money, i would have gone for this. i do love early matisse.
